Private Seat Check.I will be returning to in person consultation in May once I am fully vaccinated!
A typical car seat check takes about 45 minutes to an hour per seat, depending on the seat, your vehicle, whether children are present, how cooperative they are, and how many questions you may have. Note: there are never too many questions, and you should never be sorry about uncooperative children!! At your appointment we will go over the features of your seat, how to install it, and how to make sure that your child is properly secured. It is best to have your child present, but it is not entirely necessary as long as we are able to establish some particular measurements before hand. Baby not here yet? Don't worry! I'll have Camille, the "Crazy car seat Baby" with me for you to practice proper "baby installation." We'll also discuss next steps, future seats and general vehicle safety around kids. Most children will need some sort of child safety seat until they're 11 or 12 years old, so there's a good chance you'll be dealing with seats for a while. |
Fees Explained
My standard fee is $40 for one car seat (or one infant seat and an extra base in a second vehicle) and $10 for each additional seat. The $10 additional fee applies to your future checks as well (new vehicle, new seat, new direction). If you have another person who will be transporting your child (babysitter, grandparent, etc) and you'd like them to learn how to install and use seats properly, I am happy to work with them as well. If that caregiver is present during your initial appointment, the $10 fee will cover their seats. If I schedule an appointment with them after your initial appointment, I charge a discounted rate of $20 for their first seat and $10 for each additional. First time appointments always take a bit longer due to their requiring more education time.
If my kids are not in school, weekday appointments may be scheduled in my shaded cul-de-sac north of Garden Oaks. It's a safe place for the kids to run around while we work.
